The Ricoh Myport 310SF is a fully automatic compact camera for classic 35mm film. Introduced in November 1995 by the Japanese manufacturer Ricoh, it is also known in some markets as the RZ 1100SF. It represents a further development of the Myport 310 Super, with the addition of SF in the name standing for a special function.

Optics and Focal Length

The camera is equipped with an aspherical zoom lens, identified on the barrel as the Ricoh Aspheric Zoom Lens.

The focal length ranges from a wide-angle setting of 38mm at f/4.5 to a telephoto focal length of 110mm at f/9.1, corresponding to nearly a 3x optical zoom.

The optical construction consists of seven elements in six groups, which aims to reduce distortions despite the compact design. The lens is also macro-capable, allowing close-ups from a minimum distance of 0.6 meters.

Focusing and Exposure Control

A key feature of the model is its automatic focusing system. On the front, the red AF Multi print indicates the multi-point autofocus system. It is a passive autofocus system with seven measuring points and an AF assist light for dark environments. The distance measurement operates precisely in over a thousand steps and covers a range from 0.6 meters to infinity.

Exposure is fully automatic, with the camera capable of shutter speeds between half a second and 1/400 second in normal mode. For night shots, a special mode is available that allows exposure times of up to one second.

Special Functions and Handling

The special feature of the Myport 310SF is the integrated Soft Focus mode, which can be used for soft-focus portrait shots. In addition to this creative program, the camera offers an infinity focus for landscape shots and a continuous burst mode.

Film sensitivity is automatically read via the DX coding system in the range of ISO 50 to ISO 3200.

Film transport is motorized. The camera uses a practical pre-wind system, where the film is first fully pulled out of the cartridge after loading. Exposed frames are continuously rewound into the cartridge, protecting them from light exposure if the back cover is accidentally opened.

Body and Power Supply

The silver plastic body measures 132mm in width, 73mm in height, and 54.5mm in depth, weighing approximately 300 grams without battery.

Power is supplied by a CRP2 lithium battery with a voltage of 6 volts.

The built-in flash offers various operating modes, including automatic activation, red-eye reduction, and slow sync for balanced night shots.
