Praktica LTL

The Praktica LTL is a single lens reflex camera. It was produced between 1970 and 1975 by Pentacon.

The lenses of the Praktica LTL can be easily interchanged. Lenses with a M42 lens mount can be used with the camera. The M42 thread was previously very common, so there are many lenses for this lens mount.

The lens thread was developed by Carl Zeiss in Jena in 1938. Zeiss, Pentacon and Pentax were among others major manufacturers of M42 lenses. The Praktica LTL does not have an autofocus system. The lens is focused manually.

The Praktica LTL has a built-in light meter. The precise exposure is measured trough the lens (TTL) of the 35mm SLR. The aperture and shutter speed can be selected by the photographer as desired.

Which apertures are available depends on the lens. The shutter speeds range from 1/1000 second to 1 second. The camera also offers a Bulb setting for long exposures.

An external flash can be fired via the built-in hot shoe. There is a wide range of suitable devices for this flash connection.

Films for the Praktica LTL

Which films are required for the Praktica LTL? The camera is designed for 35mm films. 35mm films are still offered by various manufacturers. Beautiful 35mm films for color or black-and-white shots are the Agfaphoto Vista 200* and the Kodak T-Max 400*.

The color film is being developed in the C-41 process. C-41 films can be developed by most photo laboratories.

The Praktica LTL has a thread for a tripod and cable release. It also has a self-timer. The power supply comes from one VARTA V 625 battery (eBay / Amazon*).

The 35 mm camera is only available in used condition. The used price of a copy of the 35mm camera depends on condition and functionality.
