The Praktica 1000 is an SLR camera and was manufactured in the 1970s by VEB Pentacon in East Germany. She was expelled in the Netherlands. An identical model is the Praktica Super TL 2.
A standout feature of the Praktica 1000 is the ability to swap lenses thanks to the M42 thread. These M42 lenses are attached to the camera using a screw thread and are extremely common. The lens is focused manually as the camera does not have an autofocus function.
This camera is equipped with a built-in exposure meter which, like most SLR cameras, measures the exposure through the lens. The desired exposure time can be set manually. The aperture can also be flexibly adjusted.
Shutter speeds range from 1/500 second to 1 second. The camera also offers a Bulb mode, which allows you to keep the shutter open for an individual length of time to expose the film. A hot shoe connection is available for external flash units.
Films for the Praktica 1000
The Praktica 1000 uses 35mm film. This type of film is still available and can be easily processed by most photo labs. Examples for color images are the Kodak Ektar 100*, while for black and white images the Kodak T-Max 100* is recommended. Both films deliver reliable results and score positively in test reports.
The 35mm camera is equipped with a tripod thread and supports the use of a cable release. Power is supplied by a VARTA V 625 battery (eBay / Amazon*). This battery can easily be purchased online these days.
Since the 35mm camera is no longer available new, used copies are available on the market. The price of a used Praktica 1000 varies depending on its condition and functionality. A used model usually costs between 20 and 40 euros.
