The Porst Reflex FX 6 is a SLR camera. It was produced by the VEB Pentacon from 1970 to 1971 in the GDR. It was sold in West Germany by Photo Porst. They offered the camera under their own brand. In East Germany it was sold as "Praktica Super TL".
The lens of the Porst Reflex FX 6 is interchangeable. It features a M42-Gewinde. The M42 thread is a common lens mount. The M42 lens mount was developed by Carl Zeiss in Jena (Germany). Large producers of M42 lenses were Pentax, Zeiss, Pentacon and KMZ. The lens is focused manually. The Porst Reflex FX 6 does not have an autofocus system.
The camera comes with an exposure meter. Exposure is measured through the lens of the SLR camera. The desired exposure time as well as the number of f-stops can be set by the user. The Bulb mode can be used for long exposures. The shutter can remain open for a variable time and expose the film. An external flash unit can be connected to the PC flash socket.
Films for the Porst Reflex FX 6
For taking pictures with the Porst Reflex FX 6, 35mm films are needed. 35mm films are still produced today and are quite easy to get. A color film for 35mm camera is the Fujifilm Superia 400*. A possible film for black-and-white images is the Kodak T-Max 100*.
The color negative film is developed in the C-41 development process. This development process is available at almost every photo lab.
The film in the camera must be winded manually by the photographer.
