The Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera Alpha 1 Executive is an instant camera. It was introduced in the 70s. It has the same features as the Alpha 1. The biggest difference to the original SX-70 camera is the tripod thread.
The lens of the Polaroid SX-70 Alpha 1 Executive cannot be replaced. The focal length is 116 mm and cannot be changed. The largest aperture is f/8, and the model has no autofocus function. The focus is adjusted manually. The closest focusing distance with this lens is 26.4 cm.
The SLR camera has a built-in light meter. The aperture and exposure time are set fully automatically from the 35 mm and cannot be fixed. An exposure correction is available. Flashbars can be connected to the socket on top of the camera. For long time recordings or planned pictures there is a thread for a tripod.
The special feature of this series is the possibility to fold / collapse the camera for transport. Considering the size of the film format it is a very compact camera.
Films for the Polaroid SX-70 Alpha 1 Executive
In the Polaroid SX-70 Alpha 1 Executive, instant films are exposed. Films for the film format of the same name are required. Today the films are being produced again. The current film for colour images is Polaroid Color Film for SX-70*. If you are more into monochrome images you can go to Polaroid B&W Film for SX-70*.
There are eight images in one package. They are in a film cassette, which also contains the battery for the power supply of the camera.
The pictures of the Polaroid SX-70 Alpha 1 Executive measure 7.9 x 7.9 cm. Whereby the actual image is a little bigger. The remaining area is filled by the iconic frame.
