The Polaroid Spirit 600 CL is characterized by its uncomplicated handling. Most of the setting options found on other camera types were omitted here. Because of its simplicity, it can be used for many different occasions. For example, it is an excellent option for parties and weddings. Even on vacation, the camera cuts a fine figure.
The basic settings are fixed on the camera. Free selection of shutter speed and aperture is not possible. The lens is fixed and cannot be changed. A zoom, which is common in smartphones, is not integrated in this model.
The "CL" in the name stands for Close-Up Lens. The close-up lens can be slid in front of the normal lens. The distance to the subject should not be less than 60 cm for sharp pictures. Without the close-up lens, a distance of 1.2 meters must be maintained.
The camera has a built-in flash. After pressing the shutter button, the flash fires automatically. This is also necessary, especially for indoor shots, because the camera needs a lot of light for good pictures.
Films for the Polaroid Spirit 600 CL
If you want to use the photo camera, you need the associated instant films. The production of the original consumable has now been discontinued. A company from the Netherlands is again producing suitable films for the 600 format.
There is film material for color photos and monochrome pictures. The perfect choice for color photos is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. If you prefer black and white images, it is recommended to choose the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. Both films can deliver good results in tests.
Eight images are possible with one pack. The film material is light-sensitive and should therefore never come into contact with light before shooting. The film material should be stored in the dark and dried.
As defined during development, an image is 10.8 x 8.8 cm in size. The captured image occupies an area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The remaining area of the image is white. Polaroid films with colored frames are also produced.
Batteries
What batteries do you need for the Polaroid Spirit 600 CL? With this type of camera, the power source is found inside the plastic case. The disposable battery contains the necessary energy for the camera technology with flash. So replacing the film also provides a fresh power source. There is no need to purchase another battery for the camera.
The film cassette including the battery should not be disposed of in household waste. The battery should be removed from the cassette and taken to a local drop-off location.

The first step is to insert the instant film. The film door opens by pressing the slider on the side of the housing. Then insert the film cassette and close the flap again. The film protecting the film is now removed by the motor in the camera.
Now you can take pictures with the camera. Hold the camera on the subject and press the release button. Immediately after the picture is taken, it is ejected. Here it passes through two metal rollers that evenly distribute the development chemistry over the image. The development process is completed after a short waiting time.
