The Minolta Weathermatic 35 DL is an underwater camera. It was introduced by Minolta in 1987. In terms of functions, it is very similar to the Minolta AF-DL. However, this 35mm camera cannot be used in water.

The camera comes with two focal lengths. With a switch you can choose between a focal length of 35mm or 50mm is the focal length of the lens. The maximum aperture is f/3.5 or f/5.6.

For focusing the lens, an infrared autofocus system has been built into the Minolta Weathermatic 35 DL. The closest focusing distance is specified at 0.75 meters for this lens. Additionally, there is a close-up button on the back for close-up photography.

The camera has a built-in exposure meter. It is designed for ISO 100 or ISO 400 films. The aperture and exposure time are set automatically and cannot be changed. The built-in flash provides sufficient light. Of course, this also works in water. However, the flash cannot be turned off.

Films for the Minolta Weathermatic 35 DL

The Minolta Weathermatic 35 DL is a 35mm camera and requires 35mm film. 35mm film is still produced today and can be developed in most labs. For black and white images, you can go for the Kodak T-Max 400*. For color images, the Kodak Ultramax 400* is an option. The color film is developed using the C-41 process. The C-41 process is offered by almost every photo lab.

The exposure area of the Minolta Weathermatic 35 DL has a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. Per film (135-36), 36 exposures are thus usually possible. The film is automatically rewound by the camera.

The housing of the camera is made of solid black-yellow plastic. The original package included the camera strap, a waterproof box for two spare films and a plastic viewfinder frame.

The Minolta Weathermatic 35 DL is no longer in production. The value of a used copy of the camera is mainly measured by its condition and functionality.

Besides the 35mm camera, there was also the Minolta Vectis Weathermatic Zoom and the Minolta Weathermatic-A.
