Minolta Super A

The Minolta Super A is a 35mm camera from the 1950s. The rangefinder camera was produced in Japan.

The lenses of the 35mm camera are interchangeable. For this purpose, a separate connector was developed for the camera. Various lenses were offered for the camera. So there is a choice of wide angle, normal and telephoto lenses for the rangefinder camera. In total, there are seven lenses that can be used with the camera.

There is no autofocus function on the camera. The focus is set manually. The correct distance is indicated by the built-in rangefinder, so the focus can be set better.

Exposure is not metered by the Minolta Super A. Aperture and shutter speed can be set manually. However, a selenium light meter was offered as an accessory. A bulb mode is available for long exposures. Otherwise, you can choose between 1/400 second and 1 second for the exposure time with the "Seikosha-MX shutter".

A flash can be connected by cable and attached to the accessory shoe. The camera itself can be placed on a tripod through the thread on the bottom. A cable release can also be connected.

Films for the Minolta Super A

The Minolta Super A does not need batteries. All functions are mechanical. However, for that you need 35mm films to take pictures. Nice 35mm films for color or black and white photography are the Fujifilm Superia 400* and the Ilford FP4 Plus*. Other suitable films are also offered by Foma, Rollei and Adox, among others.

Approximately 36 frames fit on one roll of film. The film transport is of course also mechanical. The return transport is also done by hand with a crank. Only after this step, the film may be removed and developed.
