The IOR Orizont Expo D is a 35mm camera. The model was developed in Germany by King KG from Bad Liebenzell. The model was licensed by the Romanian Intreprinderea Optica Romana and then built in Romania. The "D" in the name indicates the self-timer of the camera. This function is missing from the Expo without the "D".
The lens of the IOR Orizont Expo D cannot be exchanged. The maximum aperture is f/2.8 with a focal length of 40 mm. The lens is focused manually. The IOR Orizont Expo D does not have an autofocus.
The 35 mm camera has a built-in light meter. More precisely, it is a selenium exposure meter. It is designed for an ISO range from 25 to 400. The special feature of the selenium light meter is that no batteries are needed. However, the measuring cells lose some of their accuracy over the years.
The camera has a bulb setting. With the bulb setting, it remains open as long as the photographer keeps the shutter release button pressed. This mode can only be used with a cable trigger.
An external flash can be connected to the Hot Shoe. A tripod can be connected to the IOR Orizont Expo D. Batteries are not required for taking pictures.
Films for the IOR Orizont Expo D
The IOR Orizont Expo D is designed for 35mm films. 35mm films are still produced by different manufacturers. A great film choice for color photos is the Agfaphoto Vista 200* and for black and white pictures the Kodak TRI-X 400*.
The color film is processed in the C-41 process. This development process is available at almost every photo lab. The black and white film needs an black and white developer.
The negatives of the camera have a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. For example, a 36-frame 35mm film can hold at least 36 photos at this size. The photographer must manually wind to the next image.
