The IOR Orizont 3 is a camera by Intreprinderea Optica Romana. It is the successor of the IOR Orizont. There was no model with the number 2. The camera was built in Romania.
The lens of the IOR Orizont 3 cannot be changed. The focal length is unchangeable and lies at 50 mm. The largest aperture available is f/3.2. The lens must be focused manually on the desired subject.
To set the exposure correctly on an analogue camera, the photographer must use a light meter or use their knowledge of exposure and light metering to set the shutter speed and aperture manually. The light meter measures the light reflected from the scene and makes recommendations for aperture and shutter speed settings.
When choosing the shutter speed, the photographer usually has a limited choice of preset shutter speeds, such as 1/125 second, 1/60 second and 1/30 second. On cameras with a bulb setting, the exposure time can be even longer than one second.
For long exposures, the Bulb setting is particularly useful as it allows the photographer to leave the shutter open for as long as they feel necessary to achieve the desired effects. This is particularly useful for shooting in low light conditions or for creating motion blur in the scene.
The IOR Orizont 3 offers the possibility to connect a cable release and has a thread for a tripod. The camera needs no power to take pictures.
Films for the IOR Orizont 3
The IOR Orizont 3 needs 35mm film. This type of film is still being produced and can be processed by most photo laboratories without any problems. For black-and-white 35mm shots, the Kodak T-Max 100* a good choice. For color images you can use the Agfaphoto Vista 200*.
The color film is processed in the C-41 process. This is offered by almost every photo lab. The black and white film needs a special black and white developer. Most professionell labs offer this kind of development.
