The Haking Quick is a camera from Haking. The rather simple camera for the 35 mm format was produced in Asia. It was sold under other brand names. An overview can be found under this link.
The camera model has a fixed lens that cannot be exchanged. The focal length of the lens is 33 mm. There is no provision for changing the focus settings on this camera. The lens is protected by a sliding door.
There is no integrated exposure metering function on this camera. The film speed can be set with a slider on the front. There are ISO 100/200, ISO 400 and ISO 1000. Depending on the setting, the camera uses a different aperture. The shutter speed remains the same and will be around 1/125 second.
For low-light photography, there is a built-in flash that ensures clear pictures. The flash is switched on with a slide below the flash.
The power required for the camera comes from two AAA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). The batteries are necessary to power the flash. If you do without the flash, you can also do without the battery.
Films for the Haking Quick
The Haking Quick is designed for 35mm film. 35mm film is still easy to get today and is developed by most photo labs. One possible film for colour images is the Kodak Gold 200*. A possibility for b/w images is the Ilford Delta 400*. Foma, Adox and also Rollei are other suppliers of 35mm film.
The colour film is processed in the C-41 process. Almost all developing service providers can process this film. B/W film can be developed both in the photo lab and at home with suitable equipment. Simple instructions for developing are available online.
The exposure area of the 35 mm camera is 24 mm x 36 mm. It is assumed that a standard roll of film can usually hold about 36 images. It is necessary for the photographer to manually advance the film in order to continue shooting. The return transport must also be done manually. For this purpose, there is a small button on the bottom and a crank on the top of the plastic housing.
