The Haking CFE 35 is a 35mm snapshot camera produced by Haking in the 1980s. It is characterized by its simple operation and compact design, making it ideal for everyday use and snapshots.

The camera comes with a plastic housing. The model was produced in a factory in the Asian country of Hong Kong.

Technical features

The camera has a fixed lens with a focal length of 34 mm and a maximum aperture of f/4.5. Focusing is automatic, so the user does not have to worry about manually adjusting the focus. An integrated light meter enables the correct exposure settings to be determined automatically, with the camera adjusting both the aperture and the shutter speed independently.

The Haking CFE 35 is equipped with a built-in flash for taking pictures in poor lighting conditions. This can be switched on if necessary to ensure that the subject is sufficiently illuminated.

There is no self-timer. A cable release cannot be connected either. Instead, there is a camera strap that makes transporting the camera easier.

Film selection and handling

The camera is designed for use with 135mm format 35mm films. These are still widely used today and can be developed in most photo labs. Popular films for the Haking CFE 35 include the Kodak Portra 400* for color images and the Ilford XP2 Super* for black and white images.

After inserting a film, up to 36 shots can be taken. The film is transported manually because the camera does not have an automatic film transport motor. The film must therefore be wound manually after each shot. The film is wound back into the cartridge using a crank.
