In November 2020, Fujifilm Imaging Systems announced a collaboration with the anime series Demon Slayer. This partnership resulted in the development of two instant cameras based on the main characters Tanjiro and Nezuko. The project was released to coincide with the theatrical release of "Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train" in October 2020.
The cameras were based on the Instax Mini 11 model, an instant camera known for its ease of use and compact size. The Instax Mini 11 uses Fujifilm Instax Mini Film, which is developed immediately after shooting and produces 62mm x 46mm images. The camera features automatic exposure control and a selfie mode that makes it easier to take close-up photos.
The limited editions featured designs inspired by the characters Tanjiro and Nezuko. Each camera came in a box with themed accessories, including a shoulder bag and a camera strap. These items were exclusive to buyers of the limited box.
Pre-orders for the cameras began on November 25, 2020 in Japan, both at Fujifilm and in select stores. The official release took place on December 10, 2020.
Films for the instant camera
The instant camera is, as already mentioned, designed for the Instax Mini format. A suitable film for color photos is the Instax Mini Film*. If you prefer to take black and white photos, you can buy the Instax Mini Monochrome*.
The films are not included with the camera. However, they are still produced by Fujifilm. Therefore, it is no problem to still use the camera today. There are ten pictures in a film cassette. Packs with one, two or more cassettes are sold.
