Fujica AX-1

The Fujica AX-1 is a reflex camera. The 35mm camera was built by Fuji and introduced in the 1980s. In the same year there were also the AX-3 and AX-5, and in Germany there was the AX-1 from Photo Porst as "Porst CR-3".

The models differ mainly in the selectable exposure modes. The AX-1 has only one aperture preselection mode. The AX-3 comes with a fully controllable manual mode. The AX-5 has an aperture and shutter speed preselection mode, as well as fully manual and automatic exposure modes.

The Fujica AX-1 comes with interchangeable lenses. Lenses with a Fujinon X bayonet / Fujica X mount can be used. There is no autofocus with the 35 mm camera. You have to focus on the subject by hand.

The camera has a built-in light meter. It is designed for films from ISO 12 to ISO 3200. Exposure is measured by the 35mm SLR through the lens (TTL). The AX-1 has an aperture preselection exposure mode. The aperture is selected by the photographer and the exposure meter sets the correct exposure time.

The camera comes with a bulb mode. In this mode, the film is exposed as long as the shutter release button is pressed. An external flash can be connected to the Hot Shoe. There is also a PC flash socket.

Films for the Fujica AX-1

Which films are required for the Fujica AX-1? The camera is designed for 35mm films. 35mm films are still offered by various manufacturers. For color shots there is the Agfaphoto Vista 200*. One way to get black-and-white images is the Ilford HP5*.

The Fujica AX-1 has a thread for a tripod. It can be triggered by self-timer or by cable release. At a size of 500 grams the weight of the body is 13,5 x 8,4 x 4,8 cm. The power supply for the 35mm camera is provided by one PX28 battery.
