The Fuji FZ-5 is a viewfinder camera, was developed by Fuji and introduced in the late 80s. The camera was available in Japan under the name Fuji Bene. With the Fuji Hi! Mickey Mouse, there was also an edition for fans of the most famous mouse in the world. Of course, the FZ-5 is no longer produced today.
The lens of the Fuji FZ-5 is fixed and has a focal length of 35mm and a maximum aperture of f/9.5. There is no autofocus. The focus of the lens is fixed and cannot be changed. A slider puts a cover in front of the lens to protect it while not in use.
A flash is built in for pictures in low light. The flash can be turned on if desired and then fires automatically. Either with every picture or only when the camera thinks the flash is needed.
The Fuji FZ-5 has a size of 13 x 7.4 x 4.4 cm and thus belongs to the compact cameras. The housing is largely made of plastic and is black in color.
Films for the Fuji FZ-5
The Fuji FZ-5 is loaded with 35mm film. The film transport is automatic. After each shot, the film is rewound by a motor. At the end of the roll, the film stock is returned to the cartridge.
35 mm films are still produced today. They can be developed in most laboratories. A 35mm film for color photography is the Kodak Portra 400*. A possible black and white film is the AgfaPhoto APX 100*. Of course, there are many other films that you can use with the compact camera. For example, there are also many nice photo films from Fuji itself.
The camera requires two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). This type of battery is very easy to find and inexpensive to boot. One charge is enough for a good number of pictures. Of course, the flash has the biggest impact on the battery life. If possible, you should go for rechargeable AA batteries, they are not only cheaper in the long run, but also better for the environment.
