Canonflex R2000

The Canonflex R2000 is an SLR camera. It was introduced in 1960 and is the successor of the Canonflex. The only major change is the shorter exposure time of 1/2000 s.

The lenses of the Canonflex R2000 are interchangeable. This is made possible by the Canon R bayonet. The Canon R 50mm f/1.8 is often found on the 35mm camera. It does not have an autofocus. Therefore, you have to focus by hand.

The Canonflex R2000 does not have a built-in light meter. However, there is a light meter available as an accessory. If this is not available, one has to measure or estimate the exposure externally. The desired exposure time can be determined manually. The aperture is also freely selectable.

The camera has a Bulb mode. In this mode, the film is exposed as long as the shutter button is pressed. The use of an external flash is possible via the PC flash socket.

Films for the Canonflex R2000

The Canonflex R2000 requires 35mm film. These films are still manufactured and can be specified from almost any developing vendor. A good choice for the model is the Fujifilm Superia 400* (color film) and the Kodak T-Max 400* (black and white film).

The color negative film is developed using the C-41 development process. The C-41 process is standardized and offered by most developing labs. Most drugstore chains in Germany offer color film development.

A thread for a tripod is built into the Canonflex R2000. In addition, there is a connection for a cable release and a self-timer. The camera weighs 690 grams and measures 14.5 x 10 x 4.9 cm. The 35 mm camera does not need batteries.

The 35mm camera is only available second-hand, as production has ended. The value of a used copy is mainly measured by the condition and functionality.
