Canon EXEE

The Canon EXEE is an SLR camera. It was produced by Canon in Japan starting in 1969. It is the predecessor of the Canon EX Auto. The 35mm photo camera was also available on the market under the name "Bell & Howell Auto 35 Reflex".

The Canon EXEE has a mixture of fixed and interchangeable lens. A lens group consisting of three elements in two groups is installed in the camera. Different attachments are screwed in front of it. In total, there were four attachments for the 35mm camera: EX 50 mm f/1.8, EX 35 mm f/3.5, EX 95 mm f/3.6 and EX 125 mm f/3.5.

For photography, the Canon EXEE has a light meter. The exposure meter is designed for film with a sensitivity of ISO 25 to ISO 800. There is an automatic exposure mode (shutter priority) and a manual mode. The aperture and exposure time can be freely selected in manual mode.

The camera's shutter supports exposure times from 1/500 second to 1/8 second. If you want to take long exposures, there is the Bulb setting. The use of an external flash unit is possible via the PC flash socket. There is a cold shoe for mounting.

A thread for a tripod is built into the bottom of the camera. In addition, there is a connection for a cable release and a self-timer. A strap can be attached to the camera's eyelets.

With a size of 14.3 x 9.2 x 8.4 cm, the Canon EXEE weighs 900 grams. A 1.3V mercury battery is required to power the camera.

Films for the Canon EXEE

35mm films are exposed in the Canon EXEE. The 35mm format is the most common film format. Therefore, some manufacturers still produce for this format. For black and white images in 35mm format, the AgfaPhoto APX 400* is a good choice. For color images, you can go for the Fujifilm Superia 400*.

The color film is developed using the C-41 process. The C-41 process is standardized and offered by most developing labs. Most drugstore chains in Germany offer color film development.

The Canon EXEE is equipped with Canon's QL fast loading system. With this, the beginning of the film simply has to be pulled to a mark and the back closed, the recording mechanism then detects the beginning and winds the film to the correct beginning.
