ORWO

ORWO is an East German film brand. It is the abbreviation for “Original Wolfen”, because it was created in the Filmfabrik Wolfen, once a factory of Agfa in the Saxon town of Wolfen. The VEB was the largest producer of films in the GDR.

After some time after the reunification, the rights to the ORWO films were transferred to the company Filmotec GmbH. This company still exists today and produces films, some of which are made according to original recipes.
