When you talk about Polaroid and instant photography, most people think of this format.
The Type 600 was introduced as a successor to the SX-70 film at the turn of 1981/82. The reason for this was that the SX-70 film had only a small exposure latitude and had to be exposed very precisely, which was not possible with the cheap cameras. The finished image is 8.9 x 10.8 cm and the image area is 7.7 x 7.9 cm. The battery for the camera and flash is already included in the film pack.
Polaroid has stopped the production of 600 film. In the meantime, there are only expensive remaining stocks on the market. But Impossible (Polaroid Originals) produces films for the old cameras again . The part of the newest generation of films are the Polaroid Color Film for 600* and the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*.
The 600 films can also be used in SX-70 cameras, the size of the format is the same. The only problem is the higher sensitivity, but this can be lowered with an ND filter to prevent overexposure.
The battery for camera and flash is not in the camera, but in the film pack. This has the advantage that, as with other old cameras, you do not have to search for suitable batteries.
