In 1949, after World War II, Yanagihara Tasaburo (柳原多三郎), a Japanese, founded the Yanagihara Seisakusyo (柳原製作所) company. Four years later, it renamed itself Nippon Kōsokki Kōgyō K.K. (日本光測機工業㈱).
During the post-war reconstruction, it stayed afloat by making NKS shots for other camera manufacturers such as Fujica, Tokyo Kogaku Kikai (Topcon), Mamiya, Tougo-Do, and Yashima Kogaku Seiki.
Starting in 1955, the company, from the Ōmori district of Tokyo, began manufacturing its own line of 35mm cameras called “Taron”. The company was renamed K.K. Taron (㈱タロン) in 1959 after its own products. But disappeared from the scene again a few years.
