The company Sunpet was founded in 1972 as Sunny Industries Company. In 1980 it changed its name to Sunpet Industries Limited. It maintains presences in Zhongshan in Guangdong Province in China and Hong Kong. Sunpet is mainly specialized in the production of optical products.
Especially in the heyday of analog photography, the company also produced many cameras. These were quite simple and thus also inexpensive cameras made of plastic. Cameras were built for pocket film, 126 cassettes, 35mm and medium format film. Due to the decreasing demand, the production of corresponding models was stopped.
Nevertheless, Sunpet still exists today. The product range includes binoculars, smartphone lenses, magnifying glasses, telescopes and microscopes. These are sold under its own brand, but it also works on behalf of other companies and manufacturers.
