After the Essentials Laptop Sleeves, which we tested recently, three more products from Orbitkey are now available, designed to make mobile work and carrying gear easier.
Essentials Keyboard Pouch
Let's start with the Orbitkey Keyboard Pouch. After recently diving a bit deeper into mechanical keyboards, as also covered in our Nuphy Review, the question inevitably arose of how to transport them safely and securely. I was able to test the standard version of the Keyboard Pouch in black.
The pouch is available in two sizes: Mini and Standard. The Mini version has external dimensions of 370 x 175 x 50 mm and weighs 190 grams, designed for compact keyboards.
The Standard version I tested has external dimensions of 460 x 180 x 50 mm and weighs 245 grams empty. Color options include classic black, lilac, and terracotta. Both variants are made of recycled polyester on both the exterior and interior.
In practice, it turned out that the Standard version is a bit too large for a keyboard like the Nuphy Air75. The compact keyboard slides around inside, so for this and similar models, the smaller Mini version is the more suitable choice.
Nevertheless, the pouch is convincing. The zipper opens wide, providing a good overview of the entire contents and making it easy to insert and remove the keyboard.
Inside, there are separate practical compartments where cables, a compact mouse, or necessary adapters can be stored neatly without damaging the keyboard casing. The keyboard itself is well protected. I really like the exterior material in the test; it is easy to clean, resistant to dirt, and does not attract lint in everyday use. It has a pleasantly textured feel reminiscent of sturdy canvas, giving the bag good shape stability.
Hybrid Laptop Sleeve v2
Next, we took a closer look at the Hybrid Laptop Sleeve V2. I had the 16-inch variant in the color option Espresso for testing, which is a deep, classic brown.
Since I didn't have a 16-inch laptop available during the test period, my compact 13-inch Macbook had to serve for the practical test. The sleeve is available in a smaller 14-inch variant as well as the 16-inch version.
The dimensions of the 14-inch variant are 360 x 245 mm closed, weighing 420 grams, while the 16-inch variant measures 402 x 255 mm closed and weighs 580 grams. When opened, the area expands to 360 x 648 mm for the 14-inch version and 402 x 730 mm for the 16-inch version. Besides Espresso, the sleeve is also available in black. Materials used are vegan leather on the exterior and a woven inner lining.
I particularly like the versatility of this product in daily work. When fully opened, it serves as a useful mat for the laptop. You can not only place the laptop on it but also delicate memory cards, filters, or lenses without worrying about scratches or dust. There is also enough space for a mouse.
Additionally, the sleeve can be folded so that the laptop is slightly elevated by an integrated flap. This elevation provides a comfortable typing angle of about 12 degrees and a more ergonomic view of the screen. The magnetic closure ensures that this elevation remains stable and does not collapse under the weight of the device.
The vegan leather used feels very pleasant and high-quality to the touch, but it also gives the impression of being somewhat sensitive to scratches and external influences. If you have the sleeve together with other items in a bag, you should be a bit careful.
On the back, there are two practical elastic pockets made of stretchy woven fabric. These are good for storing accessories like cables, a smartphone, or a mouse flat. When the pockets are not filled, they lie close to the sleeve, maintaining a slim profile.
I see the primary use of this sleeve especially when frequently changing workplaces within a building or at home. Whether you work from home or often move between different meeting rooms in the office, this is a practical all-in-one solution for transporting your laptop and essential accessories with one hand.
For trips to external appointments or client meetings, however, I find the 16-inch version a bit unwieldy when carried alone. Since it has no carrying strap and takes up a lot of space when unfolded, you would need to store it in a larger bag or backpack for longer distances anyway.
Slim Laptop Sleeve
As the third product in the lineup, we tested the Slim Laptop Sleeve. In contrast to the previously described Hybrid version, this is a classic protective case that focuses on the essentials. It reliably protects the laptop from bumps and scratches in everyday use without adding unnecessary bulk.
The Slim Laptop Sleeve is available for laptops in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. The 14-inch version measures 355 x 255 x 25 mm and weighs a light 230 grams, while the 16-inch variant has dimensions of 390 x 285 x 25 mm and weighs 270 grams.
Available colors are black, lilac, and terracotta. The material is entirely recycled polyester, with the exterior featuring a special coating that can be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth and effectively prevents dust and lint from sticking.
A big plus in daily handling is the wide opening of the sleeve. Thanks to the continuous two-way zipper, you can open the case both in landscape and portrait orientation. If you transport the sleeve in a camera backpack that opens from the top, you can conveniently remove the laptop without having to take out the entire case.
Another very practical detail is the flat handle on the back. This makes it easier to carry the case and you can attach the sleeve to a suitcase if needed.
Overall, it is a solid case for a laptop that protects it well.
For a second version, additional elastic outer pockets, similar to the Hybrid Sleeve, might be a desirable addition. As it stands, you always have to store accessories separately in the backpack since the case itself offers no space for additional items.
