What to think of the Colorsplash Flash by Lomography?

I bought the Colorsplash Flash back then together with my Lomo LC-A+ (eBay / Amazon*). The Colorsplash Flash is a flash from Lomography with a hot shoe. Its special feature is that you can color the light with different color filters and you can easily change them by turning.
The Colorsplash Flash is very compact and therefore fits very well with the Lomo LC-A+. As already said, you can slide color filters in front of the flash. By turning a wheel you can choose between the four different filters.
Two slots are reserved for blue and I think yellow, for the other two you can choose between the other supplied ones. This is a small minus point for me, because I would also like a slot without a filter and therefore I can only choose one filter myself in the end.
The power of the flash cannot be adjusted on the flash. When photographing with the LC-A+ in low light, which is the typical area of use for a flash, you have the problem that the camera always selects an aperture of f/2.8 and in the close range the flash overexposes the images.
I helped myself by cutting a milky film, available e.g. at a craft store, to the size of the color filters and then sticking it in front of the flash. Another possibility is to halve an empty milky film canister and clip it in front of the flash.
Both reduce the intensity of the light, thus prevent overexposure and also make the light softer, which is advantageous for portraits.
The flash is powered by one AA battery (eBay / Amazon*).
Conclusion
If you are looking for a compact flash with color filters, the Colorsplash Flash (Amazon) is a good choice. If you want a Lomography flash with a bit more adjustment options, then the "Fritz The Blitz" (Amazon) might be something.
