What are the differences between the Instax Mini 7S, 8, 25 and 50S?

How do the different Instax models differ?

With all Instax Mini cameras and the appropriate Instax Mini film, you can take instant pictures. For an instant camera, the models are quite compact and light. The body is largely made of plastic for all of them.

The differences lie mainly in the design, the light meter (does the camera do everything itself or do you have to adjust something yourself?) and smaller functions.

Fujifilm Instax Mini 7S
The 7S (Amazon) is the cheapest Instax camera, based on new prices. Despite the low price, the instant camera has everything you need. The exposure can be set manually in four modes.

Fujifilm Instax Mini 8
The Instax Mini 8 (Amazon) is the successor to the 7S. Its design is a bit more compact and it only needs two AA batteries instead of four. It also has a high-key mode.

Fujifilm Instax Mini 25

The Instax Mini 25 (Amazon) is smaller and lighter than the 7S and 8. In addition, the camera can choose the correct exposure itself and the flash is a bit smarter.

The 25 has two shutter releases, for portrait and landscape shots, and a light/dark control. With a small mirror, self-portraits can be taken. A close-up lens is included. It requires two CR2 batteries for operation. These batteries are usually a bit more expensive than AA batteries.

Fujifilm Instax Mini 50S

The Instax Mini 50S (Amazon) is almost identical in functionality to the 25. It differs mainly in design. It also has a built-in self-timer and a tripod connection. However, it lacks the small mirror for self-portraits of the 25.
