The Porst CR-7 is a 35mm camera. It belongs to the group of SLR cameras. The 35mm camera was built by Fuji for Photo Porst and sold by the Japanese company under the name “Fujica AX-5“. At that time, Photo Porst was one of the largest photo dealers in Germany and was based in Nuremberg, Bavaria.
The CR-7 differs from the Porst CR-3 and Porst CR-5 mainly in the available exposure modes. The CR-3 only offers aperture priority, the CR-5 also has a manual mode.
Porst CR-7 lenses can be replaced. For this a Fujinon X bayonet / Fujica X Mount was used. The Porst CR-7 does not have an autofocus, it is manually focused.
The built-in light meter makes it easier to measure exposure. It can be used for films with a speed of ISO 12 to ISO 3200. Exposure is measured by the lens of the SLR camera. The Porst CR-7 has four different exposure modes, aperture priority, shutter speed priority, program/automatic, and a manual mode.
Bulb mode is available for long exposures. An external flash can be connected to the Hot Shoe. There is also a PC flash socket.
Films for the Porst CR-7
The Porst CR-7 exposes cartridges with 35mm film. These films are still being produced and the development is offered by most photo labs. Possible films for the Porst CR-7 are the Fujifilm Superia 400* for color images and the Ilford XP2 Super* for black and white shots.
A tripod can be attached to the Porst CR-7. A cable release can also be used with the camera. In addition, the self-timer can be used to take pictures. The dimensions of the camera body are 13,5 x 8,4 x 4,8 cm. It brings 500 grams on the scales. The needed energy for the camera is provided by one PX28 battery.
Today you can buy the Porst CR-7 only in used condition. The value of a used copy depends on the condition of the camera.
