The Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera Model 2 is an instant camera. The Polaroid company built the camera from 1974 to 1977. The functional range of this model is similar to the SX-70 series of the original SX-70. However, the housing is made of white plastic and partly covered with brown vinyl (“Porvair”). It was also available in a black-black edition.
The camera comes with a fixed focal length lens. The focal length of the lens is 116 mm. The maximum aperture is f/8. The Polaroid SX-70 Model 2 does not have an autofocus. Focusing is done manually by looking through the viewfinder. The minimum distance to the subject must be 26.4 cm.
The SLR camera has a built-in meter for measuring the correct exposure. The Polaroid SX-70 Model 2 has automatic exposure control and sets aperture and shutter speed automatically. An external flash can be used via the flash bar socket.
Films for the Polaroid SX-70 Model 2
The instant camera is designed for the SX-70 format. Polaroid produced integral films for this format. In the meantime, it is available again under the brand name “Polaroid Originals”.
You have the choice between color and black-and-white film. The film for colour images is the Polaroid Color Film for SX-70*. If you want to make black and white pictures you can use the Polaroid B&W Film for SX-70*.
In one package of Polaroid Originals films there is a film cassette containing eight unexposed frames.
After inserting the film, the camera with the built-in motor ejects the protective layer of the film. After that you can start taking pictures.
The battery for the power supply of the camera is located in the film cassette. The battery is changed with every film change. Depending on the age of the film, the battery may already be discharged.
The Polaroid SX-70 Model 2 can only be bought used. The value of the Polaroid SX-70 Model 2 depends on the condition of the camera. The black-black edition is much rarer and therefore more valuable than the white edition.
