The Polaroid 600 Business Edition SFI is an instant camera from Polaroid. Its range of functions is identical to that of the Polaroid One Step Flash Closeup.
This model was created for State Farm Insurance Companies. State Farm Insurance Companies, or State Farm for short, is one of the largest insurance and financial services groups. The group has existed since the 1920s.
The camera has a plastic body. The design is based on the colors black and red. Next to the flash you can find the logo of “State Farm Insurance”.
The Polaroid 600 Business Edition SFI is very user-friendly. Many setting options found on other types of cameras have been omitted. The ease of use allows for a low barrier to entry and thus many possibilities for areas of use. For example, it is well suited for parties and weddings. It is also a good companion during vacations.
Changing the exposure settings is not possible. Free setting of shutter speeds and aperture is not provided. The lens is fixed and cannot be changed. The model does not have a zoom function. To get razor-sharp images, it is recommended to keep a minimum distance of 60 cm to the subject. For this, the close-up lens must be pushed in front of the actual lens.
Of course, this camera cannot do without an integrated flash. The flash happens automatically when the picture is taken. A literal bright spot is the flash when shooting under suboptimal lighting conditions.
Films for the Polaroid 600 Business Edition SFI
Quite important for the instant camera are the appropriate photo films. The camera manufacturer, the US company Polaroid, no longer produces film material. A Dutch company develops and manufactures again suitable films for the 600 format.
There are black and white and color films for the 600 format. For color pictures with the instant camera, you can reach for the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. Classic black and white pictures are possible with the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. Both films can deliver good results in tests.
There are a whole eight photos in one box. The film material can become unusable if it comes into contact with a lot of light before shooting. A dark and dry place is perfect for storing it for a long time.
As prescribed in the standard, an image is 10.8 x 8.8 cm. An area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm is provided for the actual image. The remaining area is filled by a white surface. Editions with colorful frames are also offered.
Batteries
What kind of batteries do you need for the Polaroid 600 Business Edition SFI? With this type of camera, the battery is found in the cassette along with the unexposed images. It supplies power to the camera technology and the flash. So when you replace the film, you also replace the camera’s power source at the same time. There is no need to buy another battery for the camera.
If the camera has been stored for a longer period of time, for example in the attic, the battery may have discharged. Of course, without enough power, the camera will stop working. All that needs to be done is to remove the photo film and replace it with new film stock.
Photoguide for the Polaroid 600 Business Edition SFI
How to take photos with the instant camera? A quick guide on how the camera works.
The first act is to load the film. To do this, slide the slider forward on the side to open the film door. Now the film cassette is inserted. The shutter can then be closed again. The light-proof film over the film cassette is now automatically removed from the camera.
The camera is now ready to take the desired picture. Aim at the subject through the viewfinder and press the shutter release button. The motor inside the camera transports the image out of the film cassette. As it does so, it passes through two rollers; these distribute the chemistry for development over the image. After the development process of the instant photo is completed after a few minutes, the photo can be closely examined.
Other options
If you can’t find a camera, you can turn to alternatives. Two good alternatives would be the Polaroid 600 Business Edition* and Polaroid Job Pro*. You can find a similar feature set with these models. They use the same films as the Polaroid 600 Business Edition SFI.
If it should be a different film format, there is a larger selection of different instant cameras. Two models are the Diana Instant Square* and Instax Mini 40*. Fresh film stock can still be purchased for these cameras as well.
