The Petri GX-5 is a reflex camera. It was sold by Petri in the 80s. The 35mm camera was built by Cosina and also offered under the name “Cosina CT-9”.
The lenses of the Petri GX-5 can be changed. Lenses with a Pentax K bayonet can be used. It is necessary to focus the lens manually on the desired subject.
The camera has an aperture preselection mode and a built-in exposure meter. This is designed for an ISO range of 25 to 1600. The correct exposure is measured through the lens. The desired aperture and shutter speed can be set by the user. Bulb mode is available for long exposures. An external flash can be used via the hot shoe or PC flash port.
Films for the Petri GX-5
For taking pictures with the Petri GX-5, 35mm films are needed. This type of film is still being produced and can be processed by most photo laboratories without any problems. A 35mm film for color pictures is the Fujifilm Superia 400*. A possible black and white film is the Kodak T-Max 100*
The color film is being developed in the C-41 process. The C-41 films are offered by most photo laboratories.
The Petri GX-5 comes with a self-timer. There is also a connector for a cable release and a thread for a tripod. The dimensions of the Petri GX-5 are 13,6 x 8,5 x 5 cm. It brings 410 g on the scales. The camera needs two LR44 batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
The 35mm camera can today only found in used condition. The condition and functionality of the camera determine the price for a used copy.
