The Olympus OM-G is an SLR camera. It is the successor of the Olympus OM-10 FC. Like its predecessor, this model was sold in the North American market. In the rest of the world, the camera was available as OM-20. The only difference between the two 35mm camera that is the engraving of the name. The camera has nothing to do with the abbreviation OMG.
Features
With the Olympus OM bayonet, it offers the photographer many options in the choice of lens. The focus is manual, which allows for optimal adjustment, especially for experienced photographers. The camera’s pentaprism viewfinder is very good and provides a clear image.
The shutter speeds of the Olympus OM-G range from 1/1000 sec to 1 sec, with a Bulb mode also available. This is especially useful for long exposures, as the shutter can remain open as long as the shutter button is pressed. The exposure meter is also present and helps the photographer with the correct exposure of the picture.
There is no built-in flash on the Olympus OM-G, but the camera does have a hot shoe flash port as well as a PC flash port that can be used to connect an external flash. The flash sync speed is 1/60 s. For a secure stand when taking pictures, the camera offers a tripod thread as well as a cable release thread. There is also a self-timer, which allows the camera to be released without directly pressing the shutter button.
The Olympus OM-G is powered by two LR44 batteries, which have a long service life. Produced in Japan, the camera offers high-end workmanship and high quality. The Olympus OM-G is a robust camera and is therefore also very suitable for outdoor use.
Films for the Olympus OM-G
The SLR camera is specially designed for the 35mm format and thus allows optimal exposure of appropriate films. Even today, there is a variety of film material in color and black and white, which are suitable for the Olympus OM-G. Of course, you can therefore still take pictures with the camera.
Recommended films include, for example, the Kodak Portra 400* for color images as well as the Ilford HP5* for black and white images, both of which are available in 35mm format. In addition, there are also many other manufacturers of film stock suitable for use with the camera, offering a wide selection.
