Olympus OM-88

The Olympus OM-88 is a model name for an SLR camera made by the Japanese manufacturer Olympus. This model name was used for sales in the American market. In the rest of the world, the model carried the name Olympus OM-101 PF. Except for the name, both 35mm cameras do not differ.

Features of the camera

The Olympus OM-88 is equipped with an Olympus OM bayonet, which is known for its excellent compatibility. The lens is designed to focus automatically, which allows the user to shoot with greater precision and efficiency. Of course, in order to use autofocus, you need the right lenses. Some OM lenses can also be used with the SLR, but must be focused manually.

The camera’s pentaprism viewfinder provides a clear and crisp view of the subject, while the built-in light meter ensures precise exposure. The camera does not have a built-in flash, but a hot shoe and PC flash port are provided to connect the camera to an external flash.

The Olympus OM-88 has a flash sync speed of 1/80 sec and also offers a Bulb mode for long exposures. The shutter speeds range from 1/1000 s to 2 s. The tripod socket is located on the bottom of the camera, while a cable release socket is not present. For self-portraits, the model also has a self-timer that allows the user to get into the picture. Power is supplied by 4 AAA batteries (eBay / Amazon*), which have a long life.
