Nikon L35 AW AF

The Nikon L35 AW AF is an underwater camera. It was presented by Nikon in the 80s. The Nikon camera was also sold under the name “Nikon Action Touch”. The underwater camera comes in different color schemes (including orange, black and blue) and is designed for depths of up to 3 meters.

The 35mm camera comes with a fixed lens. 35 mm is the focal length of the lens. The maximum aperture is f/2.8 and the lens is focused via autofocus. For underwater shots, the focus can be adjusted manually. The closest focusing distance for this lens is 0.7 meters.

The Nikon L35 AW AF has a built-in light meter. The exposure settings are set automatically by the camera. Sufficient light for underwater pictures is provided by the built-in flash.

Films for the Nikon L35 AW AF

What films are needed for the Nikon L35 AW AF? The camera is designed for 35mm film. 35mm films are still in production. For black and white images, you can go for the Kodak T-Max 400*. For color images, the Fujifilm Superia 400* is an option. Both films are well suited for underwater camera shooting due to their high sensitivity.

The color film is designed for development in the C-41 process. This development process is available at almost every photo lab. The black and white film must be processed in a black and white developer. If you do this yourself at home, you have full control over the results.

The film is automatically rewound by the camera. So no problems when photographing in water.

A self-timer is built into the Nikon L35 AW AF. Power is supplied by two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). Through the AA batteries, the camera, light meter and flash are supplied by power.

The L35AWAD is a variation of the underwater camera. The model comes with the option for imprinting the shooting date. AD in this case stands for Auto Date.
