The Nikon F60 is a 35mm camera. It belongs to the group of entry-level SLR cameras. It is the successor of the Nikon F50 and was introduced in the late 90s.

The lens of the Nikon F60 is exchangeable. This is possible trough the Nikon F lens mount. In most cases the camera comes with the AF Zoom-Nikkor 35-80 mm f/4-5.6 D. This lens connector was first introduced in 1959. After that time it became the standard at Nikon and was not abandoned with the introduction of an autofocus.

Other suppliers of lenses, besides Nikon, of compatible lenses are Tamron, Tokina, Sigma and Samyang. But be careful, not all modern camera lenses can be used with the old film cameras. You don not have to focus by hand with the Nikon F60. The camera has an autofocus.

For photographing, the Nikon F60 an exposure meter. It was designed for films in a range between ISO 25 and ISO 5000. The film speed is read out via the DX code of the film. As with most SLR cameras, exposure is measured trough the lens. The Nikon F60 has an automatic exposure mode and automatically adjusts aperture and shutter speed. The aperture and shutter speed can be freely set by the photographer.

The Nikon F60 has a built-in flash. An external flash can be used with the 35mm camera via hot shoe. The Nikon F60 has a self-timer and tripod thread.

The camera weighs 575 grams and the dimensions are 14,8 x 9,6 x 6,9 cm. The camera needs two CR123A batteries (eBay / Amazon*).

Films for the Nikon F60

Without 35mm films, the Nikon F60 does not work. Films of this format are still easy to get today and are still being developed. A great film choice for color photos is the Kodak Gold 200* and for black and white pictures the Kodak T-Max 100*.

The color film is processed in the C-41 process. This development process is offered by most laboratories.

The negatives of the camera have a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. At this size, 36 images will fit on a 135-36 film. The film is transported automatically.
