The Nikon EF100 is a snapshot camera. It is a very simple model, comes with a black plastic body and is definitely not aimed at professional photographers. It was introduced by the Japanese manufacturer in the early 1990s. A model with the same function was also available under the name “Nikon Nice Touch 2”.
The 35mm camera comes with a fixed lens with a fixed focal length. 35 mm is the focal length of the lens. The maximum aperture is f/4.5 and the focus of the lens is fixed. The closest focusing distance of this lens is 140 cm. In macro mode, you can also take pictures at a distance of 55 cm.
An exposure meter is built into the camera. It is designed for films with a sensitivity of ISO 100, ISO 200 and ISO 400. The Nikon EF100 reads the DX code of the film cartridge and sets the light meter accordingly. The aperture and exposure time are set fully automatically by the 35mm film and cannot be fixed.
The 35 mm camera has a built-in flash. With ISO 100 films it reaches up to 10 meters. If desired, the flash can also be switched off for shooting.
The camera weighs 195 grams and measures 12.3 x 6.8 x 5 cm. Power is supplied by two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). The films in the Nikon EF100 will automatically advance to the next frame.
Films for the Nikon EF100
Which photo films are needed for the Nikon EF100? The camera uses 35mm film. For this film format there is a good selection of material for colour and black and white pictures.
A good choice for the Nikon EF100 are the AgfaPhoto Vista 200* (colour film) and the AgfaPhoto APX 400* (black and white film).
The colour film is developed in the C-41 process. This development process is offered by most laboratories. The black and white film may only be processed in a genuine black and white developer. This process can also be developed at home with the right chemistry.
You can only buy the camera in used condition. The prices for a used copy depend on the condition. Because of the simple construction and the few functions the value is not very high.
