His Lomokino films can already be digitized with the smartphone. Now Lomography has introduced the Smartphone Film Scanner with which you can digitize all your 35mm films.
The dimensions of the scanner are 14 cm x 7 cm x 13 cm and it weighs only about 250 grams. Therefore, it can be easily taken along, for example, to grandma and grandpa's to scan old negatives and send them directly to the whole family.
The smartphone scanner will certainly not match the quality of a good flatbed scanner. It also lacks something like dust removal. You will get better results by photographing with a DSLR. Of course, in the latter case, additional conversion in another software is possible.
The scanner from Lomography is probably most comparable to those tower scanners that are occasionally available at Aldi, Lidl and Co. for under 100 euros. They work similarly to the smartphone scanner, only the camera is already built into these devices. If you already have a smartphone, the scanner from Lomography is significantly cheaper.
Quickly scan a photo and send it directly to your friends via Facebook or email. This is probably the area of application of the Smartphone Film Scanner from Lomography. For beginners in analog photography, this device is certainly an interesting option if you don't want to or can't spend a lot of money. But if you want more quality and resolution, you can't avoid an expensive device for digitization.
At the end of the day, a digitized image is always better than no image.
Here is the corresponding video of the scanner, which shows its function.
