The Minolta SR-T SC is an SLR camera from the Japanese camera manufacturer. It was built by Minolta from 1973 to 1975. It belongs to a group of models that were manufactured by Minolta especially for American department store chains.
The SR-T SC is a hybrid of the SR-T 100 and the SR-T 101 and was sold exclusively at Sears to photographers. An almost identical model was produced as the SR-T MC. It was later followed by a successor model, the Minolta SRT SC-II.
The lens of the camera is interchangeable. For this purpose, a Minolta SR bayonet was built into the camera. The Minolta MC Rokkor-X 50mm f/1.4 is often found with the 35mm camera. It was also sold together with a MC Rokkor-X 50mm f/2. There is no autofocus system, but the focus must be adjusted manually.
The camera has a built-in light meter. It is designed for films with sensitivity from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. Exposure is metered through the lens of the 35 mm camera (TTL). The aperture and exposure time can be freely set by the photographer. There is no automatic exposure control. The shutter speed can be set from 1/1000 second to one second. There is also a bulb mode for long exposures.
The Minolta SR-T SC can be mounted on a tripod. An external flash can be connected via the hot shoe or the PC flash connector. The flash sync speed is 1/60 second. A self-timer is not available.
With a size of 14.6 x 9.5 x 4.7 cm, the camera body weighs 670 grams. Power is supplied by a PX625 battery (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Minolta SR-T SC
According to the manual, the Minolta SR-T SC uses 35mm film. 35mm film is still made today and is relatively easy to obtain. Film transport is mechanical with a lever. The return transport into the cartridge is also done by hand. Then the back can be opened and the film taken for development.
Usable photographic films for the Japanese SLR that can still be easily purchased today are the Kodak Ultramax 400* for color images and the Ilford Delta 400* for black and white images. Both films are good for everyday use and perform well according to reviews. Of course, there are a variety of other suitable films for the camera A roll of film usually holds 36 photos. You can either make prints from the negatives or digitize them with a scanner.
