Minolta Freedom AF 35R

The Minolta Freedom AF 35R is a 35mm camera from the early nineties. It belongs to the group of point-and-shoot cameras and comes with an automatic. The camera was produced in a factory in China. The model was also sold under the name “Minolta Riva AF 35c” outside America.

A fixed lens is built into the camera. The focal length is fixed and is 35 mm. The largest available aperture is f/4.5. Manual focusing is not required with this model. The camera has an autofocus. The closest focusing distance is specified at 95 cm for this lens.

For shooting, the photo camera has an exposure meter. It can be used with ISO 100 or ISO 400 films. The camera technology reads the DX code of the film cartridge and sets the exposure meter accordingly. At values below ISO 100, the camera exposes the film as if it were ISO 100 film. Above ISO 400, the film is treated like ISO 400 film.

Exposure settings are automatically set by the 35mm photo camera. There are no different exposure modes. There is also no way to set aperture and shutter speed. The 35mm camera has a thread for a tripod on the bottom and a self-timer.

The built-in flash can be used in low-light conditions. The output reaches up to 3.3 meters at ISO 100. The flash also has a red-eye reduction function. The auto flash cannot be turned off.

The dimensions of the Minolta Freedom AF 35R are 13.6 x 7.3 x 4.7 cm, according to the instruction manual. It weighs 235 grams with its plastic housing. Power is supplied by two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). Here, of course, you can also reach for rechargeable batteries. This type of battery is easy and cheap to get, if you do not have the batteries in the house anyway.

After each press of the shutter button, the film is wound onto the next free frame. At the end of the roll, the film material is rewound back into the cartridge. Quartz Date Model

In addition to the normal model, there was also a Date version. This variant can expose the recording time in a corner of the pictures. For this purpose, the camera has a built-in clock. For this, an additional CR2025 battery (eBay / Amazon*) is needed. You can also do without the battery or turn off the function if you don’t want to have the date in the pictures.
