The La Sardina – Sapphire Serpent was introduced by Lomography in 2012 for Valentine’s Day. The camera is made of blue plastic.
It was introduced along with the La Sardina – Orinoco Ochre, Fisheye No. 2 Python, Diana F+ Zebra and Diana Mini – Leopard for the “Safari” theme.
The plastic lens of the camera (eBay / Amazon*) has an 89° angle of view. The aperture cannot be changed, it is fixed at f/8. The MX switch allows for easy multiple exposures. Long exposures are possible with the Bulb mode. The camera does not lack a connection for a remote shutter release and a tripod.
The Sapphire Serpent is fed with 35mm film (eBay / Amazon*), whether Redscale, color negative film, slide film or black and white film. The number of pictures taken is indicated by the film counter. The camera also has a connection for a remote shutter release and for a tripod. When the 35mm film is full, it can be developed in any laboratory.
