Kodak Gold 200

The Kodak Gold 200 is a color negative film. It is only available for 35 mm cameras. It has a sensitivity of ISO 200.

The Kodak Gold 200* is aimed primarily at amateurs and is wonderfully suitable as a film for everyday life with which you get beautiful color pictures. Just put it in the camera and snap away, could be the motto of the film.

Development of the film

It is developed in the C-41 process. This process is standardized and is offered by practically every lab. You can also take it to the drugstore around the corner to be developed.
There you can get your film developed and the matching prints. Of course, this is possible with any C-41 color negative film.

If you need a little more sensitivity, you can use Kodak Ultramax 400*.

Medium format variant

For a long time, the Gold 200 was only available for 35 mm cameras. Since 2022, there has now also been a version for medium format cameras. Unlike the 35 mm film, the medium format film is not aimed at the occasional user, but at “professional” users.

This is of course related to the general position of medium format. If you use medium format film, you take analogue photography a little more seriously than if you use a 35mm disposable camera from time to time.

In the Kodak line-up, the Kodak Gold 200 is of course in direct competition with the Kodak Portra 160 and the Ektar 100. In this comparison, the slightly higher sensitivity and above all the lower price speak in favour of the Gold. In terms of image impression, it tends towards warm colours with high saturation. The Portra 160, for example, is somewhat more restrained in terms of colour saturation, which is particularly evident in skin tones, for example, which appear somewhat more flattering as a result.
