Kodak Breeze

The Kodak Breeze is a simple snapshot camera. It was offered by Kodak starting in 1989. It was built in Taiwan. Similar variants were also sold under the name “Kodak Euro-35” and “Kodak S100 EF“. The body of the compact camera is made of plastic and is white in color.

The 35mm camera comes with a fixed focal length lens. The focal length is unchangeable and is 35mm. The widest available aperture is f/4.5 and the focus of the lens is fixed.

The camera has only a few adjustment options. The really crucial adjustment option concerns the sensitivity of the film. You can choose between ISO 100/200 and ISO 400 with a slider. Depending on the setting, the camera’s aperture also changes. The shutter speed remains the same in both cases.

The camera has a built-in flash. Only when the flash is on can the widest possible aperture be used. The power source of the Kodak Breeze and the flash respectively are two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). The batteries are only used for the flash. The rest of the camera’s functions can be used without power.

Films for the Kodak Breeze

The Kodak Breeze is designed for the 35mm format. 35mm film is still readily available today and is developed by most photo labs. For black and white images in 35mm format, the Ilford Delta 100* is a good choice. For color images, you can reach for the Kodak Portra 400*. Both films provide solid shots with the compact camera.

The photo camera negatives have a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. Thus, about 36 pictures fit on a common 35mm film at this size. The film is rewound manually in the 35mm photo camera with a thumbwheel on the back. When the film is full, the film material must be returned to the cartridge with a crank. The camera can then be opened, the film cartridge removed, and the film delivered for development.
