The Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 is an instant camera. It was introduced by the Japanese company in August 2013. First it was only available in Japan, but at the end of the fall it found its way to Germany as well.
The Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic is wrapped in a simple and elegant garb. The plastic body has certainly been heavily inspired by the Fujifilm X series (digital cameras). It is finished in black and silver. The Instax Mini 90 weighs just under 300 grams (without film and battery) and measures 91.9 x 113.4 x 57.2 mm.
Included with the camera is a camera strap, battery with charger, and instructions. The MSRP from Fujifilm is 149 euros.
The Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 is equipped with a fixed 60 mm lens. It adjusts the focus itself, depending on the mode selected. The aperture and exposure time are also selected by the camera itself with a built-in light meter.
After turning on the camera and pulling out the lens, you can select the settings you need by pressing a button or turning the ring around the lens.
The Instax Mini 90 offers significantly more setting options than most other Instax Mini cameras. The macro mode lets you get as close as 30 cm to your subject, and the LD button lets you make the image brighter or darker.
The Instax Mini 90 is equipped with a self-timer that can take a picture (or two if you wish) on its own after 7 seconds. There is also a double exposure mode that allows you to take two subjects in one picture.
Another special feature, for the Instax cameras, is the Bulb mode. With this, the shutter stays open as long as the shutter button is pressed. However, there is a limit of 10 seconds maximum.
For long exposures, there is a port for a tripod and for shooting in landscape mode, there is a second shutter button.
The instant camera requires the Instax Mini Film*. It can be used to take credit card-sized color pictures that are developed after a few minutes. There are 10 pictures in a cassette, usually you buy the film in packs of 2 cassettes.
Power for the camera comes from a rechargeable battery, NP-45A. According to Fujifilm, this should provide enough juice for 100 pictures.
