Fujifilm Fujicolor Quicksnap Super HR

The Fujifilm Fujicolor Quicksnap Super HR is a disposable camera. The camera is loaded with 24 frames of color film, more specifically the Fujifilm Fujicolor Super HR 400.

The model dates back to the late 1980s and was sold by Fuji in international markets, particularly the USA. Photographers in the home country of Japan were able to purchase similar models under the name 写ルンです (Utsurundesu). The name “Quicksnap” was used internationally. This name is still used by Fujifilm today.

Functions of the camera

The Quicksnap’s range of functions is limited. The photographer can’t “set” anything more on the camera than pressing the shutter button and fast-forwarding. Aperture, focal length and exposure time are fixed and cannot be changed. There is no built-in flash on this model.

The manual on the back of the camera

When the film is full and the frame counter shows an “E”, the camera can be specified in the developing lab. If you want to develop the 35mm film yourself, you need the appropriate C-41 chemistry and a screwdriver.

With the screwdriver or even a knife, one opens the flap on the bottom of the plastic camera, after removing the cardboard, and takes out the cartridge. This operation can be done in the light, because the film is wound directly into the cartridge.

Alternatives

This specific model is of course no longer manufactured today. But there are still disposable cameras for the 35 mm format. Kodak, Ilford, Lomography and Fujifilm, for example, offer suitable models.

Most models today come with a built-in flash. Models with a waterproof housing are also available. These are a good choice for taking pictures on the beach, in the sea or pool. The number of possible pictures varies, but is usually between 24 and 36 pictures.
