Fujica ST605 II

The Fujica ST605 II is an SLR camera for the 35mm format. It is the last SLR with M42 thread from Fuji. It differs from the Fujica ST605N only in a few minor details. This camera is far more popular and easier to find than the Fujica ST605 II, which was only sold in Asia.

The Fujica ST605 II offers the possibility of interchangeable lenses. An M42 thread was installed for this. There is a wide range of lenses for the M42 thread. The M42 thread was developed as a successor to the M39 thread. Major producers of M42 lenses were Pentax, Zeiss, Pentacon and KMZ. The focus of the lens must be adjusted manually. There is no autofocus system.

The camera comes with a light meter. The shutter speeds go from 1/700 second to 1/2 second. Also, the camera comes with a Bulb setting option. In this mode, the film is exposed as long as the shutter button is pressed. If you want, you can have the Fujica ST605 II triggered by the built-in self-timer or by a cable release. The option for using a tripod provides the necessary stability.

Films for the Fujica ST605 II

35mm film is needed to take pictures with the Fujica ST605 II. 35mm film is still manufactured and will develop without problems at most photo labs. A good choice of film is the Kodak Portra 160* for color images and the AgfaPhoto APX 100* for black and white images. Both films are well suited for shooting with the Fuji camera.

The Fujica ST605 II negatives have a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. Per film (135-36), 36 exposures are thus usually possible. The film is transported further with a lever. Rewinding the film into the cartridge is also a manual process.

The value of a copy of the camera depends on its condition. As a rule, you should be able to find a model for under 100 euros.
