Fujica ST-F

The Fujica ST-F is a mixture of SLR and point-and-shoot camera. It was introduced by Fuji in the 70s. It was probably built by the Sedic Camera Company, also from Japan. A direct copy of the Fujica is the Great Wall PF-1.

The Fujica ST-F comes with a lens that cannot be changed. The designation “Fuji Photo Film Fujinon 1:28.8 f=40mm” decorates the lens. The lens has a focal length of 40mm. You have to focus the lens by hand. The 35mm camera does not have an autofocus function.

The Fujica ST-F has an exposure meter for measuring the exposure. The light meter was built for films with a sensitivity of ISO 64 to ISO 400. The aperture number can be freely selected on the Fujica ST-F. The exposure time, on the other hand, is unchangeable and is set by the camera. Exposure is set by turning the aperture ring until the green LED lights.

The Fujica ST-F comes with a built-in flash. The Fujica ST-F offers the possibility to connect a cable release and has a thread for a tripod.

The dimensions of the 35mm camera are 13.1 x 8.6 x 6.8 cm according to the manual. It weighs 360 grams. The camera requires two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*).

According to the manual, the Fujica ST-F is designed for the 35mm format. For this film format there is still a good selection of material for colour and black and white images. Beautiful films for black and white or color images are the Kodak T-Max 100* and the Kodak Portra 160*.

The colour film is a colour negative film and is developed in the C-41 process. The C-41 process is offered by almost every photo lab. For example, you can deliver your films to many drugstores in Germany for developing.

The negatives of the camera have a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. The film is transported manually by the photographer using a lever.

The Fujica ST-F can only be bought used. How the condition is and whether it still works is nowadays decisive for the value of the camera.
