Fuji manufactured the viewfinder camera Fujica Flash Date from 1975 to 1983. The Fujica Flash AF Date was later introduced as its successor.

The camera has a permanently installed lens that cannot be changed. The lens is labeled “Fujinon 1:2.8 f=38mm”. According to the technical specifications, the maximum aperture of the lens at a focal length of 38 mm is f/2.8. Since no automatic function is available, the distance to the subject can only be adjusted manually on this camera. To avoid blurry images, a minimum distance of 90 cm to the subject is recommended.

For photography, the 35 mm camera is equipped with a light meter. The light meter supports an ISO sensitivity of 25 to 400. The camera electronics take over the automatic adjustment of the exposure values.

An integrated flash is built into the camera. On the underside of the housing, the Fujica Flash Date has a thread to attach it to a tripod. Furthermore, there is a connection for a cable release.

The power supply is ensured by two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*).

Films for the Fujica Flash Date

The Fujica Flash Date uses 35mm film for exposure. Although the 35mm format has existed for a long time, there is still a demand, which is why some manufacturers still produce films for this format.

A possible color film for the Fujica Flash Date is the Kodak Ultramax 400*. For black and white shots, the Ilford Delta 100* is suitable. Both film types are good for everyday shots or vacations and are convincing in test reports.

The development of the color film takes place in the C-41 process. This service is offered by almost every photo lab. For example, the large drugstore chains in Germany enable the development of color films.

The negatives of this 35mm camera have a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. After about 36 pictures have been taken with a roll of film, the roll is full and must be changed. Since the camera does not have an automatic film transport, the photographer must manually advance the film to the next picture.

Nowadays, the camera is only available on the used market. The value of the Fujica Flash Date is largely determined by its condition and functionality.
