The Fujica AX-3 is a single reflex camera. The mid-range 35mm camera was built by Fuji and sold in the early 80s. In Germany the camera was sold under the name “Porst CR-5“.
The difference to Fujica AX-1 and Fujica AX-5 is mainly in exposure modes. The AX-1 has only one aperture preselection mode. The AX-5 has all four important exposure modes.
The lens of the Fujica AX-3 is interchangeable. Lenses with a Fujinon X bayonet / Fujica X mount can be used. The lens is focused manually.
The built-in light meter makes it easier to measure exposure. It is designed for an ISO range from 12 to 3200. Exposure is measured by the 35mm SLR through the lens (TTL). The AX-3 has an aperture preselection mode and can also be operated completely manually.
The 35 mm camera has a bulb mode. With the PC flash port and the hot shoe it is possible to use a flash.
Films for the Fujica AX-3
The Fujica AX-3 needs photo film for taking pictures. Or more precisely 35mm film. This type of film is still being produced and can be processed by most photo laboratories without any problems. For black-and-white 35mm shots, the Ilford HP5* a good choice. For color images you can use the Fujifilm Superia 200*.
The Fujica AX-3 has a thread for a tripod. It can be triggered by self-timer or by cable release. The camera weighs 500 g and the dimensions are 13,5 x 8,4 x 4,8 cm. The power supply for the 35mm camera is provided by one PX28 battery.
The Fujica AX-3 is no longer produced. The price you pay for a used copy of the camera depends on the condition and functionality.
