The Marix Color 400D is a color negative film sold under the Marix brand but manufactured by Kodak. Marix is a brand of the Cloudoc company from Osaka, Japan.

This film is designed for colorful shots and has a recommended ISO value of 400. The ISO value is crucial for exposure and applications as it determines the film's sensitivity to light. ISO 400 is ideal for everyday situations and vacation photos.

Development of the film

After exposure, the film must be developed using the C-41 process to obtain a complete image. This process is standard in most laboratories and provides consistent results regardless of the laboratory. With a little experience and the right chemistry, you can also develop the film yourself. After development, negatives are usually obtained, which laboratories often divide into strips with four to six images.

The negatives can then be digitized or prints made. In addition to development, laboratories usually also offer prints in various sizes. The film strips can be scanned for further digital processing. There are different scanners for negatives with different functions and qualities. The digitized photos can be shared on social media or further edited.

Formats

The Color 400D is only available as 35mm film and offers 36 exposures per roll. There is also a variant for 24 images. The manufacturer has omitted DX coding, which can limit its use in modern 35mm cameras without manual setting options. There is a wide range of 35mm cameras from various manufacturers such as Leica, Lomo and Rollei.

The storage conditions of the unexposed film can influence the later photo quality. For optimal long-term storage, unexposed film should be stored in a cool, dry place. To ensure the best possible quality, exposed film should be developed promptly.
