The Lucky SHD 100 New is a black and white film. It is manufactured by the Lucky Film Corporation in China. As the name suggests, there were several versions before this film. However, the quality of these was rather poor. With the SHD 100 New, however, this was raised significantly.
Of course, it can't match the quality of a Kodak T-Max 100 or a 100 from Ilford, but you can still take decent black-and-white pictures with it. The main argument for this film is certainly its low price. But the happy film can also come up with good gray values and a fine grain.
Another special feature is the lack of an anti-halation layer, which is supposed to protect against the over-radiation of highlights in the image. This "feature" provides a dreamy look depending on the subject. You can enhance the effect by overexposing the film.
While the Lucky is very well suited for Holga, Diana and co, it definitely can't hurt to try it in a "real" camera either. The SHD 100 New is available as 35mm and medium format film. In addition to the 100 film, there was also a 400 version of the black and white film, but the status of this film is unclear.
