The World 500/5219 film is a color negative film that is ideal for creative photography projects. It was sold by a supplier from China, but is no longer available.

The film material itself is produced by Kodak, but is offered online independently of the manufacturer. The film is based on the Kodak VISION3 500T, a professional cinema film that is normally only available in large spools.

Special features of the film

The Kodak VISION3 500T is specially optimized for artificial light (tungsten). Unlike digital cameras, where the white balance can be flexibly adjusted, with analog cameras it is important to choose the right film type for the lighting situation.

The World 500/5219 film delivers precise colors under artificial light. However, if the film is used in daylight, color shifts occur that can be corrected by using a filter. It should be noted that this filter reduces the film's light sensitivity.

Development of the World 500/5219 film

The film must be developed using the ECN-2 process because it has a special Remjet coating. This layer protects the film in cinema cameras, but must be removed during development. If processed incorrectly, for example in the C-41 process, residues of the coating can damage the chemistry of the developer baths.

Some photo labs offer the ECN-2 process. It is advisable to inquire in advance whether the preferred lab carries out this special development. Alternatively, you can use variants of the VISION3 500T where the Remjet coating has already been removed.

Use in cameras

The World 500/5219 film is suitable for 35mm cameras and works in models from many well-known brands such as Minolta, Olympus, Nikon, Leica or Konica. Around 36 images fit on one roll.

It is important that the camera is designed for the 35mm format. For optimal results, the camera should offer a manual setting of the film speed or a manual mode.
