Dubblefilm Bubblegum 120 is a color negative film that is commercially available under the Dubblefilm brand and costs about 16 euros a roll in April 2023. The film stock is not made by Dubblefilm itself, but by an unnamed manufacturer.
The film is specifically designed for color photos and has an ISO of 200, as stated in the spec sheet.
What really sets Dubblefilm Bubblegum 120 apart, however, is the way it alters color tones. Instead of delivering correct colors, it produces images with a pinkish tint. Under-exposure enhances the color effects, while over-exposure softens them.
Until recently, such effect films were only available for 35mm format, but Dubblefilm has since developed a process to achieve similar effects with medium format cameras as well.
Developing the film
To process photos taken with Dubblefilm Bubblegum 120, the C-41 development process must be performed. This process is offered as a service in most photo labs and is standardized. In Germany, this process can also be done through large drugstore chains. The result of the development process is film strips on which the captured images can be seen.
Once the film has been developed, there is the option of either digitizing the negatives or creating photo prints in various sizes. Many developing labs offer this service directly.
