The Canon EOS A2E is an SLR camera. The 35mm camera was presented by Canon to the public in the USA in 1992. Under the name “Canon EOS 5” the 35mm camera was also distributed.
The Canon EOS A2E offers the possibility of interchangeable lenses. It comes with an EF bayonet. Mostly it comes with the Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5. The camera has an autofocus. The focus point can be selected with the eye. A slimmed down version, without this function, was sold as “EOS A2”.
The built-in light meter makes it easier to measure the exposure. It was designed for films with a sensitivity from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The film speed is read from the camera by the DX code on the film cartridge.
The light meter is designed to measure the exposure through the camera lens. The aperture and exposure time are automatically set by the camera in program mode. The shutter speed and aperture can be selected manually by the photographer.
The Canon EOS A2E has a bulb mode, for example for long exposures. In Bulb mode, the shutter remains open as long as the photographer holds down the shutter release button. For shooting in low light conditions, there is a built-in flash, which ensures clear images. An external flash can be triggered via the built-in hot shoe. The Canon EOS A2E has a thread for a tripod and a self-timer.
With a size of 15.4 x 12.1 x 7.4 cm the Canon EOS A2E weighs 675 grams. The camera requires a 6V 2CR5 battery (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Canon EOS A2E
The Canon EOS A2E is designed for 35mm film according to the manual. 35mm films are still made by different producers. Beautiful 35mm films for color or black and white images are the Agfaphoto Vista 200* and the AgfaPhoto APX 100*.
The color film is a color negative film and is developed in the C-41 process. C-41 films are developed by almost all photographic laboratories.
